The SC Revolutionary Rivers Trail is a 66-mile National Water Trail along the Lynches River, tracing the historic routes of General Francis Marion, the “Swamp Fox” of the Revolutionary War.

Designated a National Recreation Trail in 2014, it leads paddlers through cypress and tupelo swamps once used by Patriot militias to outmaneuver British forces.
Beyond its historical significance, the trail offers rich biodiversity, attracting birders and ecologists alike. Managed by the Florence CVB, the experience includes short paddle trips, rustic overnight camping, and self-guided driving tours to Francis Marion heritage sites.
Park and meet the team at The Cut on Possum Fork Road in Johnsonville, SC. Drive to the end of Possum Fork Road and park near the river’s edge. From there, you’ll be shuttled to Persimmon’s Bluff, where you’ll launch your kayaks.
