Famous as the filming location for the movie Deliverance, the Chattooga River is considered the crown jewel of whitewater rafting in the Southeast.
It flows through a pristine, undeveloped landscape and offers some of the most exciting and challenging rapids in the Blue Ridge and Smoky Mountain region. On May 10, 1974, the Chattooga was officially designated a National Wild and Scenic River, just six years after the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act was enacted on October 2, 1968.
